The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a critical incident at a town of Corning home after a report of shots fired.

Department officials issued a news release Saturday evening stating that they are investigating a critical incident but have released few details. A portion of Hwy. 64 was shut down at about 6 p.m. as the investigation unfolded. A helicopter was summoned just before 6 p.m.

“At this time no other information is available for release,” said Sheriff’s Lt. Timothy Fischer, in a prepared release. “As information becomes available it will be released.  We ask for your patience and not contact the Sheriff’s Office at this time.”

Merrill Police were called to assist the department.

One suspect has a bullet wound to the shoulder, according to scanner reports.

Initial scanner traffic suggests the incident began to unfold at about 5:45 p.m. on Hwy. 64 just west of Mill Road. Rescue crews were called to the residence, but no additional details were immediately available.
