WAUSAU – The Boys & Girls Club of the Wausau Area has hired Carol Pond as its CareerLaunch director – a vital role to lead club members on the path to success before and after earning their diploma, the club announced this week.

Carol Pond

Pond joins the team after spending 12 years in the Wausau School District as the career center
coordinator, providing post-secondary guidance to high school students, staff and community members, according to the Boys & Girls Club.

Prior to joining the school district, Pond held positions at university and technical college campuses in admissions, financial aid, student activities, student employment and residence life.

“Helping young people find their calling is central to our mission of enriching and transforming lives,” said CEO Matt Jameson in a news release. “Carol and the CareerLaunch team will help young people choose their best path, whether that’s through a university, technical college, workforce or the military.

“Additionally, this is a tremendous opportunity to enhance our partnerships with the business community and economic development organizations as we work together to address the needs of our area.”

Pond holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from UW-Stevens Point and a Master of Science
in education in college student development and administration from UW-La Crosse.

Pond will join CareerLaunch coordinator Ryan Handlin, who has served the club since February 2017.
