A 20-year-old man under active juvenile supervision connected to first degree sexual assault and burglary charges has been referred to the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force after cutting off his GPS monitor and fleeing from a Wausau group home, according to court filings.
Sekahr McAllister was convicted as a juvenile in September 2016 and was placed at Lincoln Hills School under the Serious Juvenile Offender Statute. According to an Aug. 6 Wisconsin Dept. of Corrections memo, McAllister was transferred on May 15, 2019 from the Mendota Juvenile Treatment Center to the Lad Lake Community-Based Residential Center in Dousman for community supervision. Two weeks later, while being taken by a staff member to an off-grounds treatment appointment, McAllister fled, but was apprehended in Brookfield later that day, according to the DOC.
Authorities say McAllister was returned to Lincoln Hills, where he remained until he was placed at a Wausau group home June 28 and placed onto GPS supervision. Just two days after being placed in Wausau, McAllister removed the GPS bracelet from his leg and fled, police said.
DOC officials say the Wausau Police Department was contacted by group home staff members the day McAllister absconded and on July 1 a referral was made to the U.S. Marshals Task Force. His juvenile supervision was set to expire in September 2021.
Now, McAllister faces felony escape charges in adult court. Those charges were filed last week in Marathon County Circuit Court and a “body only” warrant was issued one day later. McAllister faces up to six years in prison if he is convicted of escape.
The Marshals, which have the broadest arrest authority among federal law enforcement agencies, provide assistance to state and local agencies in locating and apprehending their most violent fugitives.
McAllister remains at large as of Aug. 30. A booking photo was not available on Friday.
