A 53-year-old Merrill woman died Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash in the town of Merrill, according to a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department release issued Monday.
The victim has been identified as Johanna L. Hoerstmann.
Police say they received a 911 call just before noon on Aug. 28 notifying them of a vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a tree on Hwy. 107 at Swede Road. Rescue crews transported Hoerstmann, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, to Ascension Good Samaritan Health Center in Merrill, where she was pronounced dead by Lincoln County Coroner Paul C. Proulx.
Police say Hoerstmann was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
