A jury in Rhinelander convicted a 66-year-old former elementary school janitor originally from Greece of forcing a fifth grade student into a closet and assaulting her.

Following two days of testimony, Stavros Iliopoulos was convicted in Oneida County Circuit Court of child enticement, false imprisonment and child sexual assault. Iliopoulos was a janitor at Northwoods Community Elementary, a charter school in the town of Cassian, at the time of the assaults. The victim was 10 years old.

Prosecutors relied in paart on DNA evidence to convict Iliopoulos, who did not testify on his own behalf and will remained jailed until he is sentenced. He faces a maximum penalty of up to 91 years in the Wisconsin Prison System.

A sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled.
