WAUSAU — The Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art will hold the first ever Wicked Wausau 5K Fun Run, a Halloween-themed run/walk fundraiser, that will be held in downtown Wausau on Oct. 26.

The race is family friendly and untimed, and runners are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. Wicked Wausau kicks off at sunset with a scenic 5K course that runs along the Wausau Riverwalk and concludes with an after-party at the art museum, complete with a bonfire, live music, refreshments and an awards ceremony for best costume. All proceeds from the race will fund future exhibitions at the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art.

“Our success is a testament to the people of Wausau, and this race is our way of paying
tribute to that,” said museum Director David Hummer. “To us, Wicked Wausau is more than a fundraiser. We’re bringing our community together to celebrate the creative spirit of this city, to reflect on two successful years in operation and to herald the bright future of art in central Wisconsin.”

Runners can register online at wmoca.org beginning Sept. 13 or sign up at the
museum during business hours, noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
