An hours-long standoff appears to be over in Loyal but an officer was transported to a local hospital for precautionary measures, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Department

The nature of the officer’s injuries is not yet clear, but officials say the officer is expected to recover.

Robert Domine, 77, was the subject of a manhunt after he allegedly led officers on a chase Wednesday, displayed a handgun, then ran into a wooded area by the intersection of County Highway Z and Sherwood Road. In a Facebook Post, Clark County officials said Domine likely remained in the area and asked anyone with information to call in.

Police located Domine at a Loyal home, resulting in a lockdown at area schools and a Facebook post from sheriff’s officials urging the public to stay away from the area. Negotiators worked to persuade Domine to emerge from his home, but he refused. Two hours into the negotiations gas was introduced into the residence. When officers attempted to enter through a garage door, two gunshots were heard coming from the residence.

Police now say there is no danger to the public, but no additional details were immediately released.
