WAUSAU – The Wausau West boys soccer team watched its unbeaten run through the Wisconsin Valley Conference come to a screeching halt at the hands of Marshfield on Thursday.

Marshfield rode second half goals from Kyle Tremelling and Alejandro Mayagoitia into a first-place tie with the Warriors after securing a 2-0 victory on the road.

West and the Tigers share the top spot in the conference standings at 4-1-0.

After a scoreless opening half, the Tigers grabbed the lead when Tremelling found the back of the net at 56:11.

West had surrendered just two goals in four WVC contests coming into the matchup with the Tigers while averaging four goals a game.

The Warriors face another tough test Tuesday when SPASH comes to town for a 4:30 p.m. start.
