A two-time sex offender who spent nine years in prison on child sex charges is behind bars again after a Rib Mountain restaurant manager allegedly discovered the man accessing child pornography on a tablet used for employee training.

State Department of Corrections records show 35-year-old Eric Curtis, of Wausau, was released from Waupun Correctional Facility less than two months before his Sept. 13 arrest. He was on active supervision at the time he allegedly accessed the photos, shortly after being hired at the restaurant.

Police were called just after 5 p.m. Friday to the restaurant after a manager reported walking in on Curtis, who was sitting in the break room with a work-issued tablet in his hand. The tablet was being used for employee training, but Curtis allegedly used the tablet to access sexually explicit photos of underage boys, according to the incident report.

Curtis was arrested and placed on a probation and parole hold, and was taken to the Marathon County Jail.

Online court records show Curtis has previous convictions for first degree sexual assault of a child and third degree sexual assault. Those charges date back to 2003; his extended supervision has been revoked two previous times.

During a court appearance Monday, Sept. 16, Circuit Judge Mike Moran ordered Curtis held on a $25,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 25.
