Marathon County volunteer opportunities: Week of Sept. 23

Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin Walk. Help raise awareness and money for the Central Wisconsin chapter on Sept. 28 at Marathon Park. Set up begins at 9 a.m. and event is from noon to 3 p.m. Help with registration, lunch, activities and more! Contact Lauren at 414-327-3729 or info@dsaw.org.

Food Delivery Drivers. Wausau Area Mobile Meals is looking for compassionate and caring people to deliver meals once a week. Meals are picked up at Aspirus Wausau Hospital at 11 a.m. and route is complete at noon. Sign up as a team or an individual. Contact Doris Spooner at 715-848-584 or wamobilemeals@yahoo.com.

Gift Shop Cashier. The quaint Heartfelt Gift Shop in the front of Mount View Care Center needs volunteers to assist as cashiers between 9 a.m. and noon or noon and 3 p.m. or every other Wednesday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Contact Kathy at 715-848-4450 or volunteer@norcen.org.

Handy Person. Are you a Jack or Jill of all trades? Like to fix stuff? Monk Botanical Gardens is seeking a volunteer to help on an “as stuff breaks” basis.  Hours would depend on what needs to be fixed and when. Contact Darcie at 715-261-6309 or info@monkgardens.org

Fundraising Committee and Chairperson. The I Believe Foundation provides academic, physical and emotional support, as well as resource referral to at risk students. In-Kind Donated Items Needed      

Bottled Water. Help Catholic Charities Warming Center provide for their guests. Bottled water and juices are appreciated. Contact Tracy at 715-849-3311, extension 1729, or trieger@cclse.org.

Jeans, Non-skid Shoes and Steel Toe Boots. The United Way Emerging Leaders Career Closet is seeking men’s jeans (size 32 +) and non-skid shoes for men and women. The Boots to Work program is in need of women’s and men’s steel toe boots sizes 5 ½ – 12 for employees beginning new employment. Drop off at United Way offices at 705 S. 24th Ave., Suite 400B, Wausau, WI 54401 Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or contact Sarah at 715-298-5712.

Furniture Items. Clean mattresses, dressers, living room furniture and small kitchen tables and chairs accepted for The Neighbors’ Place Furniture Bank for client use. Call with questions at 715-845-1966.
