Lois Rosenberg
Lois M. Rosenberg, 92, died Sept. 23, 2019, under the care of North Central Health Care Center, Lakeview Heights, with the assistance of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born June 30, 1927, in Milwaukee to Elmer and Meta Koepke. After graduating from Milwaukee Lutheran High School, she attended Concordia College in River Forest, Illinois, and became a teacher before marrying Donald A. Rosenberg in 1948.
After some time in Milwaukee and Valparaiso, Indiana, Lois and Don moved the family to Wausau in 1958. Despite having plenty of family responsibilities, Lois was actively involved in the community through various organizations over the years, including Wausau Pro Musica, the League of Women Voters, the Big Dipper Food Co-op, Valparaiso University Guild, Concordia Guild, and others. She played significant early roles in the establishment of Wausau Child Care Center, Pilgrim Christian Nursery School, and Greater Wausau Christian Services, the east side ministry, which became The Neighbors. Place. Content to take relatively quiet supporting roles, Lois was a tireless advocate and supporter of good causes, including being on the call list for the community blood bank, where she donated gallons over the years. Lois was an avid supporter of Public Broadcasting, UNICEF, Heifer Project and many different social justice organizations.
Lois and Don had six children; John (Nancy Faaren), Tumwater, Washington; Thomas (Sandy), Weston, Wisconsin; Lee (Chris Thoma), Minneapolis, Minneapolis; James (Karla), Rhinelander, Wisconsin; Beth (Jeff) Martin, Wausau, Wisconsin, and Andrew, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, in 2017; her parents and her brother, John. Survivors include her sister, Mary Moeller, Long Island, New York, and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. at the First Universalist Unitarian Church, 504 Grant St., Wausau, Wisconsin. Rev. Brian Mason will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Lois and her family have designated Heiffer International (heifer.org) and Wisconsin Public Radio (wpr.org) for memorial contributions if you so choose.

Allen Syring
Allen “Butch” R. Syring, 69, Wausau, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019.
He was born Sept. 22, 1950, in Wausau, son of the late Richard and Genevieve (Wimmer) Syring. On June 7, 1975, he married Paulette Klimek at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
Allen was a veteran of the United States Marines and a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Dudley Post No. 10, Wausau. In October of 2018, he took the trip of a lifetime on the Honor Flight, and ever since, has greeted those veterans at the airport, returning from their trip. For 25 years, he worked as an electronic technician for the United States Postal Service, until his retirement.
Following his retirement, Allen became an avid golfer and spent many hours working on projects and helping out at both the Trapp River Golf Course and the Tribute Golf Course. He was very proud of the hole in one he achieved at Tribute Golf Course. Allen was a member of the Rib Mountain Bowmen and was an avid hunter, especially enjoying hunting trips to “Kid’s Camp” in Iron County.
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Paulette, Wausau; his son, William “Bill” Syring, Knowlton; two brothers, Jeff (Sharon) Syring, Schofield and Steven (Sandra) Syring, Aurora, Colorado; one sister, Jean Matsche, Wausau; two brothers-in-law, Matt (Audrey Braun) Klimek, Minocqua and Michael “Vinnie” Klimek, Aniwa; three sisters-in-law, Karen (John) Laska, Wausau, Susan Klimek, Wausau and Virginia (Tom Lange) Klimek, Wausau; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Syring; one sister, Patricia Beilke; and one brother-in-law, Edward Klimek.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, at Bunkers, 1001 Golf Club Road, Wausau. Military honors will be conducted at 3 p.m. by the American Legion Post No. 10, Wausau.

Lorraine Mroczenski
Lorraine E. Mroczenski, 91, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at Dycora Health and Living Community, Abbotsford, with her daughter by her side.
Lorraine enjoyed volunteering at the Athens Library, sewing, crocheting and leaving instructional hand-written notes on everything.
She was born July 4, 1928, in the town of Halsey, daughter of the late Raymond and Anna (Eibl) Gore. On June 9, 1949, she married Stanley Mroczenski at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1997.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia “Pat” Klimpke; son, Ervin (Joanne) Mroczenski; grandchildren, Stacey Vollrath and Nick (Jennifer) Klimpke; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Thompson, Bradley, Kyle, Kaitlynn, Keagan and Liam Klimpke and Jason Greisbach; sister, Lila (Ty) Keller; brothers, Rufus “Bud” Gore and Clayton (Alice) Gore; sister-in-law, Marcy (Allan) Leitermann; brother-in-law, Dave Beaty.
Besides her parents and husband, Stanley, she was preceded in death by an infant son, infant grandson, infant great-grandson, son-in-law, Carl Klimpke, grandson-in-law, Gary Vollrath, brother, Ralph Gore, sister, Mary Jo Beaty.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2019, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Timothy Oudenhoven will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Ruth Cantley
Ruth Bernice Cantley, 99, Minocqua, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at Lakeshore Assisted Living in Minocqua under the care of Ascension at Home/Ministry Hospice of Arbor Vitae.
Ruth was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Cudahy, Wisconsin, to the late Walter and Minnie (Kuppert) Ihling. Following her graduation from high school she began working as a bookkeeper. She married Leslie Cantley on Aug. 25, 1944, in Milwaukee. The couple were blessed with one daughter, Laurie. Ruth and Leslie often enjoyed riding their bicycles together to go get a sweet treat.
She was a loving and thoughtful mother who enjoyed baking and spending time outdoors. Ruth often could be found working in her garden cultivating her flowers. In her free time, she liked to play bridge and watch the Milwaukee Braves/Brewers and the Green Bay Packers.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Steve) Bunda and sister, Gloria (Richard) Herman. She is preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia (Noble) Lee.
A private service will take place at a later date.

Patrick Mayo
Patrick Jason Mayo, a fisherman, 46, of Stevens Point left this world too soon on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital surrounded by family and lots of love. He was born on Aug. 17, 1973, in Antigo, Wisconsin, to Michael and Christine (Henricks) Mayo.
Pat attended St. John Catholic Grade School and Antigo High School, graduating in 1992. He completed the funeral service degree program at Milwaukee Area Technical College and received his funeral director’s license from the state of Wisconsin. While completing his apprenticeship at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Service in Milwaukee, Pat would meet his future wife, Amanda Zanchetti and they were married on March 18, 2000. Patrick considered Mandy one of the greatest blessings he received in his life and to him, she will always be known simply as “Pumpkin”. Pat was the key to keeping Mandy motivated and focused in the pursuit of academic and professional goals.
During his career as a funeral director, Pat was employed with Bradley Funeral Home of Antigo, Gunderson Funeral Home of Madison, Peterson-Kramer Funeral Home of Wausau, and at the time of his passing, with Helke Funeral Home of Wausau. Pat felt it was a great honor and privilege to be entrusted for the care of families and their loved ones at the time of a death. It was a responsibility he accepted with great reverence and Pat assisted many people both living and deceased over the course of his career.
Pat’s true passion in life was fishing. His favorite time was anytime involving fishing whether it be in a boat, on the ice or in a trout stream. He secured many friendships through fishing and was blessed with many adventures in pursuit of the “big one,” including regular trips to Ontario, Canada. This fishing season, the Lord blessed Pat with four 29-inch, 10-pound plus walleyes. It may have been his last, but it was truly a once in a lifetime season. A memorial ice fishing tournament is being planned for this winter in his honor. Next time you’re out fishing, please take a moment to remember Pat.
Pat also enjoyed deer and turkey hunting and was looking forward to hunts this fall. He loved time spent in the woods at Barb and Terry’s farm preparing for the next hunt and riding the trails on the four wheeler. He was also an avid fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and felt fortunate to have attended many games (especially Bobble Head days) in Milwaukee. He would love the run the team has been making these past few weeks.
A great accomplishment for Pat was long distance running, completing two marathons, three half marathons, and many 5K races. Even though the heart was willing, his knees and feet were not and eventually ended his running days. Additionally, Pat was a loving pet owner who greatly enjoyed the companionship of his pets, including current friends, Linus, Dax and Daphne.
In the end, the world is certainly a less interesting place without Pat in it. He was a unique individual who always followed his own path and he will remain forever in the hearts and minds of all those who knew and loved him.
Pat is survived by his wife, Amanda “Pumpkin” Zanchetti-Mayo of Stevens Point; his mother, Christine Haedike of Antigo; his four siblings, John (Amy) Mayo of Rhinelander, Barbara (Terry) Behn of Birnamwood, James (John Dopke) Mayo of Brookfield, Wisconsin, and Nicole Mayo of Antigo; nieces and nephews, Cody (Rebecca), Mason, Kiana (Collin), Hans, Driana, Adeline, Georgia, and Kinsley; father and mother-in-law, David and Lisa Zanchetti of Stevens Point; sister-in-law, Jennifer (Erik) Nielsen of Stevens Point, and brother-in-law, Paul (Holly) Zanchetti of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. He is further survived and loved by aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael, and grandparents, John and Marian Mayo and Richard and Beverly Henricks.
A memorial service for Pat will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at St. John Catholic Church, 415 Sixth Ave., in Antigo, with Father Charles Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Saturday in Hoffmann Hall at St. John Catholic Church. Please wear Brewers or Badgers attire in honor of Pat. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family would strongly encourage support of a memorial to be established in Pat’s name that will benefit some of his favorite causes, and donations may be directed in care of his family.

Carlton Broehm
Carlton Broehm, 81, resided in Bancroft, formally from Collins, Wisconsin, also resided in Arizona during the winter months, passed away on Sept. 21, 2019, with his loving family at this bedside.
He was born on May 10, 1938, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Arvin, Sr. and Lydia (Fredrich) Broehm of rural Hilbart.
After working a few different jobs, he started at Manitowoc Engineering, where he worked in shipping and receiving until he retired in 1998. Carlton then started helping out at Vista Royalle Campground where he resided in the summer months. Over the last 19 years, he loved it immensely, right up until he could no longer help out.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon (Valleskey) of 60 years; and loving daughter, Jill (Robert) Kollman of Van Dyne; three grandchildren, Cassandra (Joshua), Kara (Jacob) and Alexis (Logan). Also, three great-grandchildren, Jayce, Mylah, and Evelyn. He is also survived by two brothers, James (Grace) and Arvin Jr. (Donna); and two sisters, Germaine and Darlene (Paul).
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jodi; his parents, Arvin Sr. and Lydia; one sister, LaVerna; and six brothers, Ruben, Eugene, Milford, Jerome, Leo, and Ronald.
A Celebration of Life will be held for relatives and friends on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home, 631 E. Grand Ave., Wisconsin Rapids. At 3 p.m. there will be a time of shared memories and prayer lead by is son-in-law, Robert.
