WESTON– The D.C. Everest Evergreens dropped their first set 25-15 to Wausau West on Thursday evening, but charged back and forced a fifth set, which the Warriors ultimately won to claim a 3-2 victory.
Everest took the second and third sets, respectively, but West took the final set 15-8.
Danni Langseth led the Evergreens with nine kills, while Alexis Crawford added eight.
Kiara Hammond had 19 assists to lead the Evergreens.
West was led in kills by Robyn Kirsch, who had 14. Anna Cunningham recorded 11 kills.
Grace Michalske had 39 assists, while Jenna Rusch had 24 digs to lead the Warriors.
Wausau West 2, Rapids 1
The Red Raiders jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first half, but West got two late goals to keep pace at the top of the Wisconsin Valley Conference standings.
Kyle Durr knocked home West’s first goal, and that was followed up by a scoring strike from Tim DeLoye on an assist from Nicholas Raasch.
West improves to 6-1 in conference play, while Rapids drops to 3-4.
Everest 96, SPASH 74
Bethany Rahn took first in the 50 freestyle for Everest, while Marina Schinker was first in the 100 butterfly and Sara Meyer won the 100 freestyle.
Everest earned wins in the 400 freestyle relay and the 200 freestyle relay as well.
Wausau East 103, Marshfield 67
It was a dominating performance in the pool by the Lumberjacks as they ripped the Tigers.
Sydney Schjoneman of East woon the 50 freestyle and Emma Clifford came away with a first place finish in the 100 yard butterfly. Clifford also earned a first in the 100 backstroke.
In the 100 freestyle, Alison Gilles of East took home the top spot.
