A heart-warming musical, set in a small Wisconsin town, will be staged next month by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Department of Theatre and Dance.

“The Spitfire Grill” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11-12 and Oct. 16-19 in the Studio Theatre in the Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage St., Stevens Point. Matinee shows will be performed at 2 p.m. Oct. 12-13 and Oct. 19.

“The Spitfire Grill” musical uses the same characters as the 1996 film but makes some changes to the plot, in addition to adding a folk, bluegrass and pop soundtrack that even includes a polka band.

Tickets are $26 for adults, $23 for seniors and $16 for ages 17 and younger at the UW-Stevens Point Information and Tickets Office in the Dreyfus University Center concourse, by calling 715-346-4100 or at http://tickets.uwsp.edu. Enjoy a variety of jazz music styles, including big band, blues, funk, Latin and swing, as the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble perform in concert Oct. 15.

The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage St., Stevens Point.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for UW-Stevens Point students, faculty and youth and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. if not sold out.
