A program designed to foster relationships between law enforcement and the community, teach kids self-discipline, and promote health and wellness will kick off its second year in  central Wisconsin on Oct. 17 in Rib Mountain.

This year, officers from Wausau Police Department, Marathon County Sheriff’s Department, and Everest Metro Police Department who participate in 10K With a Cop will partner with students and school staff with the goal of having the students, along with the officers, complete a 10K race in May 2020.

Kick-off training event details:

-South Mountain Elementary: 3:45 p.m. Oct. 17
-John Marshall Elementary: 3:45 p.m. Oct. 21
-Lincoln Elementary: 3:45 p.m. Oct. 22
-GD Jones Elementary: 3:45 p.m. Oct. 30

The program began last year in partnership with the Wausau and D.C. Everest school districts. Three additional Wausau elementary schools will be added to the program this year.
