Schools in Stevens Point were on lockout Friday after an alleged threat surfaced concerning a school within the district.

The lockout order was issued at 8:42 a.m. A lockout means all students remain inside with all doors locked.

Police say the threat originated in North Carolina and was widely shared. The threat was later determined not credible, police said.

District officials say the lockout was a precaution while police continued their investigation.
