One person is dead after being struck by a vehicle early Tuesday in the Oneida County town of Schoepke, according to a news release.

The crash was reported at about 7:30 a.m. on CTH B near Meister Stockley Road. The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old girl, called 911 to report her vehicle slid off the road and struck a tree. But a second 911 caller reported that the car had also struck a male pedestrian, the release said.

The male who was struck died of his injuries, police said. His name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

The driver, a 16-year-old Summit Lake girl, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. Wausau Pilot and Review is withholding the name of the teen driver involved in the crash.

Oneida County Capt. Tyler Young tells Wausau Pilot and Review the crash was one of several in the northwoods during a time when roads were icy in patches. Crews also responded to a rollover crash Tuesday morning on Hwy. 8, Young said.

The Wisconsin Stated Patrol will be completing an accident reconstruction, and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department will be completing the accident report.
