WAUSAU — Halloween is the perfect time to revisit the scariest, spookiest and most haunted places in central and northern Wisconsin, and explore the history behind the lore. While some haunted houses are obviously staged for fun, there are several spots in the area with real reputations for being truly haunted.

At 10 a.m. today, Oct. 31, Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Route 51” host Shereen Siewert welcomes Shawn Blaschka and Jeff Syring, members of the Wausau Paranormal Research Society, for a discussion on the area’s most disturbing apparitions, physical manifestations and veiled forces behind the unusual activity reported at several locations in Wausau and beyond.

Listeners will be encouraged to call in with their own stories and experiences as well.

“Route 51” is heard Thursdays at 10 a.m. on The Ideas Network stations 101.3 & 91.9/Wausau, AM 930/Auburndale-Stevens Point, 99.1/Stevens Point, 100.9/Marshfield, 90.3/Park Falls, 89.1/Adams-Wisconsin Rapids, and 89.9/Rhinelander-Eagle River. It is re-broadcast Fridays at 7 p.m. on 90.9/Wausau. Program archives are available at wpr.org/route51.
