Prep roundup: Hartman takes 8th at state; Newman volleyball heads to Resch Center

WISCONSIN RAPIDS– Ryan Hartman of Wausau West notched an eighth place finish at the WIAA state cross country meet in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday.

Hartman had a time of 15:56.9.

Jake Krause, who edged Hartman out of first place in last week’s sectional race, took first overall with a time of 15:34.2.

Zach Brandenburg of D.C. Everest was 70th overall with a time of 16:57.9.

Middleton took first place for the boys Division 1 race, while SPASH came in second.

Meanwhile, in the girls race, McKenna Taylor of Wausau East finished 29th overall with a time of 19:21.8.

Muskego notched a first place finish in the girls Division 1 race.


Newman 3, Wabeno/Laona 0

SURING– The Cardinals cruised to a 3-0 win to advance to the WIAA Division 4 state semifinal.

The first set was tight with Newman pulling out a 26-24 victory.

The following sets went in Newman’s favor 25-18, 25-20.

Newman will square off against Clear Lake on November 8 at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
