Marathon County volunteer opportunities: Week of Nov. 4

Turkey Trot Volunteers. Come out on Thanksgiving Day and be a part of the Tenth Eastbay Turkey Trot event that supports the Marathon County Hunger Coalition. A variety of volunteer roles are available. The biggest need is for course marshalls along the route. Contact Ben at 715-298-5715 or blee@unitedwaymc.org.

Adopt a Resident. Consider helping brighten someone’s holiday at North Central Health Care or Mount View Care Center. Businesses or organizations can purchase a gift that will be specific to a resident. Contact 715-848-4450 or volunteer@norcen.org.

Have an Hour or Two between Dec. 2 – 6 to Help Assemble or Deliver Care Packages? Faith in Action of Marathon County will hold its Sixth Annual Gift of Hope Holiday Care Drive this year during early December. Assemble packages at 630 Adams St. in Wausau. Delivery drivers needed as well. Contact Jamie at 715-848-8783 or wausaufiainfo@gmail.com.

Aspirus Hospice Patient/Family Support (Home Care). Volunteers provide emotional support to patients and their families as they give respite to caregivers and read, walk or sit with patients. Contact Samantha at 715-847-2424 or Samantha.Giese@aspirus.org.

Love Knitting? Comfort shawls, lap blankets, slippers, scarves and patriotic blankets that can be given to individuals on Heartland Hospice Services is appreciated. Contact Amanda at Heartland Hospice at 715-344-4541 or amanda.cottrell@hcr-manorcare.com.

Just being creative! Art supplies are used at North Central Health Care for resident therapy and fun. Current items sought are colored construction paper, crayons, markers, glue, glue sticks, colored pencils, inexpensive canvases, hot glue gun and paint brushes.
