Police have identified the victim who was fatally shot over the weekend in La Crosse as 18-year-old Javier R. Ayers, of La Crosse.
Police were called to the 900 block of Copeland Avenue about 9:40 p.m. for a report of a shooting, according to the La Crosse Tribune. There, they discovered Ayers lying in the alley with a gunshot wound.
Ayers was transported by ambulance to a La Crosse hospital, where he later died.
Police have not publicly identified any persons of interest in the case.
