This Price County Circuit Court this week approved the sale of Flambeau River Papers, sparking cautious optimism that the mill will eventually reopen.

Niagara Worldwide has until Nov. 13 to close on a deal to purchase the mill in Park Falls. The firm bid $2.2 million for the property in an auction held on Sunday. A prior planned sale of the mill to newly formed company Element Ventures fell through in October, forcing the assets to be marketed as a liquidation sale.

Niagara is a Wisconsin-based facilities operations and manufacturing company. The company also lists property redevelopment, commodities trading, asset liquidation, equipment acquisition, construction, and remediation as areas of specialization on its website.

A city of Park Falls news release said the immediate concern is getting at least part of the mill back in operation. The mill employed as many as 300 people.
