Two public hearings were held this week to discuss proposed fare hikes for Wausau’s municipal bus routes, which would go into effect next year.

The meetings were held on Thursday evening and Friday morning at City Hall. Wausau Transit Director Greg Seubert said relevant information was sent to the Wausau Daily Herald, mailed to a list of agencies and organizations, and was posted online on the Metro Ride site in the “notices, detours, docs, links” section

See the full notice here.

Interested residents who missed the meeting are invited to submit written comments to Metro Ride at 420 Plumer St., Wausau, WI 54403 or via email at [email protected]. All written comments must be postmarked or received by Nov. 15.

Cash fares remain unchanged under the plan, but prepaid passes and tokens would increase. See the proposed increases, below:

The transit commission is expected to review all input during their upcoming meeting, slated for 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21 in the board room on the second floor of City Hall, 407 Grant St., Wausau. If the rate hikes are approved, they will go into effect on Jan. 2, 2020.
