NEWS RELEASE – In honor of Veteran’s Day, Northcentral Technical College (NTC) held a rededication ceremony for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, which was relocated to NTC’s Medallion Plaza on the Wausau campus.

The “Ruby Red Polished Stone” includes the names of 118 Vietnam veterans from the 10 counties that represent the NTC District who were killed in the line of duty. The memorial was erected in 1990 and recently relocated to NTC’s Medallion Plaza, which is partially surrounded by service flags that represent all branches of the U.S. Military. The memorial was part of a three-phase collaboration between NTC, the NTC Foundation and area veterans groups that began in 1985 and includes an orchard of cherry trees on campus called “The Peace Grove.”

Additionally, NTC opened the doors to a newly remodeled space dedicated to veteran staff and students. The Day Room features areas where veteran staff and students can gather to build community. The NTC Veterans Club coordinated a video display that is featured in the room and includes military photos of NTC staff and students.
