City Grill, the bar and restaurant adjacent to Wausau’s Jefferson Street Inn, is transforming itself into an Italian restaurant as of Dec. 2.

The kitchen is closed during the transition process, but the bar and event spaces are remaining open, according to the organization’s Facebook page. In December, the restaurant will officially become Benevenuto’s City Grill, 203 Jefferson St., Wausau.

Applications are sought for restaurant servers, bartenders for the restaurant and banquet services, and line cooks.

Company officials say Benvenuto’s is a family-owned Wisconsin business, not a corporate chain. Each location has a slightly different look but all have the same menus and recipes. The company also hosts regular “Dine Outs” to assist non-profit charitable organizations and support their cause by donating 20 percent of participant sales directly to them.

The Wausau location will become the seventh for Benevenuto’s, which also operates restaurants in Beaver Dam, Fitchburg, Fond du Lac, Madison, Middleton and Oshkosh. The restaurant will be the second Italian-themed dining offering for downtown Wausau, following closely on the heels of Ciao, which opened earlier this month on Third Street in the former Daly’s s space.
