Marathon County volunteer opportunities: Week of Nov. 25

Occasional Host Reception/Cashier. Greet customers, do light cleaning, arrange art and make transactions at the 319 Gallery (”Home of the Talent Shop”). The art gallery and homemade craft retail has need every day but Sunday, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., occasionally. Contact June at 715-297-7993 or jaidag@g2a.net.

Help People in Transition. The Open Door of Marathon County is in need of volunteers to help recently released inmates who are in need of proper seasonal clothing, footwear and toiletries. Contact Anne at 715-848-4044 or at opendoor319@gmail.com.

Give Rides to Seniors. Faith in Action helps those in need receive rides to medical appointments or the grocery store. If you enjoy spending time with older people and can give a few hours a month, call Jamie at 715-848-8783 or email wausaufiainfo@gmail.com.

Aspirus Hospice Patient/Family Support (Home Care). Volunteers provide emotional support to patients and their families as they give respite to caregivers as they read, walk or sit with patients. Contact Samantha at 715-847-2424 or Samantha.Giese@aspirus.org.

Basketball Coaches and Assistants. Wausau Metro Adults Special Olympics starts its season in December and is looking for volunteers for teams, each practicing one night a week. No need to be a basketball pro, just have a positive, patient and encouraging attitude. Contact Kayla or Ashley at wausaumetroadultSO@gmail.com.

Wrap it Up! The Alzheimer’s Association is seeking purple ribbon, wrapping paper, beads and tulle, as well as any new mugs, gift boxes, and baskets. Contact JoAnn at 715-803-6779 or jejanikowski@alz.org.

Sofa and Rocking Chairs. North Central Health Care is looking for a gently used sofa and two gliders or rocking chairs. Contact Kathy at 1-715-848-4450 or volunteer@norcen.org.

Boots. United Way Emerging Leaders Boots to Work program is in need of new or gently used women’s and men’s steel toe boots sizes 5 ½ – 12 for employees starting a new job. Please drop off at 705 S. 24th Ave. Suite 400B, Wausau, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. or contact stifft@unitedwaymc.org.
