A winter storm warning issued in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday could complicate travel plans, so be sure to keep an eye on the forecast before heading out this week.
A winter storm warning has been issued for much of central, western and northern Wisconsin for Tuesday night and Wednesday including Marathon County. A winter storm moving from southeast Colorado to Wisconsin will bring the possibility of heavy snow for our area. Snowfall totals of 4 to 8 inches are possible if the storm moves as currently forecast, according to the National Weather Service in Green Bay.
Anyone with travel plans in the northwest half of Wisconsin, southern Minnesota or much of Iowa should listen for forecast updates and possible winter storm warnings.
“While exact snowfall amounts are still to be determined, hazardous travel is possible leading up to Thanksgiving,” according to the National Weather Service in Green Bay. “We urge you to keep a close eye on the latest forecast and be prepared that you may encounter wintry conditions if planning to travel.”
Thanksgiving Day should be cloudy and calm with a high of 29 degrees.
But, there’s a chance for more precipitation Thursday night into Friday. Snow is likely from Friday through Sunday.
