A 66-year-old town of Rib Mountain man died Saturday while hunting in Lincoln County, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.
A 911 call at about 1:30 p.m. Nov. 23 reported a hunter was found not breathing by other members of his hunting group. Emergency crews responded to the land, off Beaver Trail Road in the town of Russell.
The hunter, identified as Charles H. Augustine, died of natural causes sometime in the morning while preparing to dress a deer he had just shot, police said. Augustine was pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln County Coroner Paul Proulx.
