MERRILL – Talk about wasting no time serving notice to the girls state hockey scene. The Central Wisconsin Storm did that and then some Tuesday night.

Dru Sabatke, Trinity Foster, Macy Stepan, Kayla Piskula eached tallied a pair of goals and the Storm hit double digits in an 11-2 win over Northern Edge at the Merrill Rec Center.

Lauren Wincentsen, Audrey Ladewig and Sami Federici also found the back of the net for the Storm, who built a commanding 8-1 lead after two periods.

Wendy Sori and Emily Kassler accounted for the Edge goals.

Storm goalie Sydney Weiland stopped 11 of the 13 shots she faced to secure the victory between the pipes.

WAUSAU – Gabe Krueger poured in a game-high 26 points but the Lumberjacks dropped a nonconference decision to the Indians.

Clyde Kowalski paced Mosinee with 25 points.
