All eastbound traffic on Hwy. 29 is closed Friday afternoon following a two vehicle crash involving a semi and a second vehicle, officials said.

The crash, which the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is describing as serious, happened at about 12:20 p.m. near Cardinal Drive, which is near Edgar and west of Wausau. A medical helicopter was called to the scene at about 12:50 p.m., according to scanner traffic.

A semi is lying on its side and all eastbound traffic is being rerouted. There’s no word yet on injuries and officials didn’t say how long the highway will be closed.
