WAUSAU – Gabe Krueger has began the season on fire for the Wausau East boys basketball team. But the senior forward took has scoring exploits to a whole new level Saturday.

Krueger went off for 45 points to break the single game school scoring record and help the Lumberjacks trounce Ashland 101-66 at the Wausau Classic hosted by Wausau West.

His performance eclipsed the previous record of 44 points set by Curt Swanson in 1973.

A returning first team All-Wisconsin Valley Conference selection, Krueger entered the contest averaging 31.5 points and 10 rebounds through two games.

Ben Cayley chipped in with 20 points as East improved to 2-1.

STEVENS POINT – Junior guard Danni Langseth finished with a team-high 12 points in a balanced attack and the Evergreen picked up their first win of the young season at Berg Gym on the UW-Stevens Point campus.

Kiara Hammond, a sophomore, and junior Hanna Stuedemann each finished with 11 points.
