WAUSAU — As part of its regular meeting schedule, the Marathon County AOD Partnership will shine a light on medication abuse trends, including both prescribed and over-the-counter, and will share the results from a recently completed fifth installment of the Community Assessment on Medication Abuse in Marathon County.

The meeting will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 3 at Northcentral Technical College, Wausau Center for Business Industry, CBI124, 1000 W. Campus Drive, Wausau.

The presentation includes information on the rise and risk of loperamide (Imodium) misuse, changes in perception of harm and availability of medications to abuse, as well as details about the latest free diversion program options available to the community.

“When taken as prescribed or directed, medications are a safe and effective way to manage a variety of health conditions,” said Melissa Moore, prevention specialist for Marathon County. “But when they are abused, they pose a risk to the public’s health and safety.”

No RSVP required for this free event; one CEU offered to participants.
