The Man of Honor Society in Wausau will give away hundreds of Christmas hams to veterans this weekend, part of their annual effort to support veterans and their families over the holidays.

The group purchased roughly 700 hams for the giveaway, which happens Saturday at the former VFW building, 388 River Drive, Wausau. The giveaway, which begins at 9 a.m., is open to all veterans with a form of military identification card such as a VA ID or DD form 214.

Pre-registration is not necessary, but veterans interested in receiving a ham should arrive early to secure a place in line. Last year’s hams were given away in minutes.

For information about the Man of Honor Society, visit their website or Facebook page. The organization is made up of U.S. Military Veterans, active duty, and reserve members.

This is the 11th year the organization will host the giveaway.
