Six members of American Legion Wausau Post 10 attended a veterans recognition event Nov. 13 at the Stanley Correctional Institute.

The two-hour event featured inmates performing readings, solos, group vocal performances and musical instrument performances, as well as videos describing the MIA-POW table and the meaning of flag folding.

The visitors met with the warden and other staff members associated with the veterans projects, toured the veterans living area and watched a demo of a K9 training program, among other activities.

To support the institute’s efforts to encourage veterans rehabilitation, Post 10 donated MIA/POW hats, all five service flags, books and other materials. Stanley Correctional Institute now has its own Honor Guard, performing at its major events.
