UPDATED: Rescue crews in Schofield on Saturday searched an area near the Eau Claire Flowage for a man heard calling for help, shouting that he was freezing to death.
Emergency personnel made contact with the man about 40 minutes after the initial call came in, but there’s no word yet on his current condition. At about 9:45 a.m., crews were transporting him across the ice to the shoreline.
A 911 caller just after 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, reported hearing the man’s cries. Rescue crews from Riverside Fire Department responded to an area at around 281 Grand Ave., Schofield, to investigate.
Crews worked to pinpoint the man’s exact location, dispatching a UTV and other rescue equipment to the area.
This is a developing story.
