Michael A. Urmanski

Michael A. Urmanski, (affectionately known as “Moose” by his friends) 56, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 24th, 2019 at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit after a short battle with cancer.

He was born March 28th, 1963 in Wausau to Walter and Kathryn (Hahnheiser) Urmanski. Michael graduated from Newman High School, Wausau, Class of ’81 and attended UW Marathon County and then a tech School.

He got his Bachelor of Science degree at UW Eau Claire, WI. Michael married Carrie Clark in Eau Claire in 1985. He taught 3rd grade at the Mishicot Catholic Grade School, Reedsville Grade School, and then at St. Mary Catholic School in Algoma, where he and his loving wife lived for the last 34 years. He chose a new profession, working at the Kewaunee Piggly Wiggly.

Michael was an avid Packer Fan, the Green Bay Blizzard Arena football team, fishing in Lake Michigan, golfing, and enjoyed traveling around the country. His spirit of serving his community was present throughout his adult life by volunteering to teach English to the Latino community, working at Country Bible Church, Casco, was active in serving the elderly by taking them to appointments, home visits and more.

He is survived by his wife Carrie, his mother Jean Urmanski (Wausau), brother Jack (Debbie) Urmanski (Sussex), three sisters, Mary Kay (Malcolm) Whittum (Wausau), Ann (Tom) Line (Wausau), Mary Alice (Steve) Benaszeski (Tomahawk); nieces Brianna, Amanda, Gail, Stacey, Katie, Jennifer, and Alanna; nephews Tony, Joseph, Joel, Matthew, Bob, Kent, Alex, and Gregory. Michael was preceded in death by mother Kathryn, father Walter, and his eldest brother Thomas.

A Committal Prayer service will be held this Friday, December 13th at 1:00 PM at the Restlawn Memorial Park Chapel, 235962 N Troy Street, Wausau WI 54403. All family and friends are welcome.
