WAUSAU — A Merrill teenager will make Woodson YMCA Northern Swimmers team history as she competes this week at the 2019 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships in Federal Way, Washington.
Grace Schultz, 15, will swim the 100-meter backstroke on Dec. 13 and the 200-meter backstroke on Dec. 14, representing the Woodson Y Northern Swimmers. She qualified in the 100-meter backstroke this summer at the Speedo Sectional meet with a time of 1:05.17 Long Course meters. Grace achieved the 200 backstroke bonus cut this fall going 2:03.34 short course yards.
Junior Nationals is a qualifying meet for the USA Swimming Nationals/Olympic trials. The event at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center will be live streamed at usaswimming.org.
