Two children were among five people injured Saturday in an afternoon crash in Columbus, according to police.

The crash was reported at about 12:30 p.m. on Hwy. 73 and CTH V. Police say one vehicle, with one occupant, t-boned a second vehicle that was carrying a family of four. All five people were injured.

Crews were forced to use the Jaws of Life to extract the family members from their vehicle before they were transported to UW Hospital in Madison.

Police say speed and distracted driving were factors in the crash.

The severity of the injuries involved has not yet been specified. No names have been released.
