WAUSAU — Dawn Jameson, business and informational technology teacher at Wausau West High School and Wausau Area Virtual Education, has received the Resolution of Commendation from the Wausau School District Board of Education for being named the 2019 Outstanding Educator by Wisconsin Educators of Business & Information Technology, Wausau School District announced today.
In nominating Jameson, Jeb Steckbauer, principal of Wausau West High School, and Jenny Seymour, principal of Wausau Area Virtual Education (WAVE), said, “Dawn has proven herself to be a dedicated, student-centered teacher who is continually looking for ways to develop as a professional and bring best practices into her classroom.
“Dawn’s stellar teaching and technology integration along with her commitment to the profession of teaching, and most importantly, the positive impact she has had on her students, were some of the reasons she was selected for this award.”
Jameson’s experiences as an entrepreneur add to her ability to share real-world learning with her students. Jameson and her husband, Jeff, have owned more than six businesses in the Wausau and Merrill areas (bringing one of the first Subway restaurants into the state) and have employed more than 125 people at any given time, according to the school district.
