The FBI is seeking victims of an alleged fraud by a De Pere-based contracting company accused of defrauding customers through third-party financing.

Summit Contracting, Inc., allegedly encouraged customers to finance home projects and then withdrew funds for the project from the financing company before work was completed on the customers’ homes, according to an FBI news release.

After receiving the entire payment for the project, investigators say, Summit regularly failed to provide the work and materials promised, leaving customers with loan payments for substandard or incomplete work.

Based on the geographical area in which Summit has been operating, potential victims are located throughout Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Potential victims of this scheme are asked to complete an online questionnaire here.

Police say responses are voluntary, but could be useful in the federal investigation. Based on the responses provided, you may be contacted by the FBI and asked to provide additional information. The investigative team has been working collaboratively to create a centralized location where all potential victims can make a report.

The FBI is legally mandated to identify victims of federal crimes that it investigates and provide these victims with information, assistance services, and resources.
