Prep roundup: Newman boys basketball bounces Assumption

WAUSAU– The Newman Cardinals got a big night from Charlie McCarty as they toppled Assumption 73-56 on Tuesday.

McCarty led Newman with 26 points, going 12-16 from the floor. He also grabbed 10 rebounds.

Mason Prey had 18 points.

“Great team win for us tonight,” Newman coach Daniel Garrett said. “I’m really proud of how we were able to execute on both sides of the floor. Charlie McCarty had a big night for us scoring, but I’m very happy with how well he rebounded tonight. Mason Prey is just a freshman and is really playing with poise and confidence right now. He’s making good decisions and making plays for himself and his teammates.”

Wausau West 5, Mosinee 2

MOSINEE– The Warriors continued their winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Mosinee.

Marc Sippel led the Warriors with two goals and an assist.

Jake Bailey, Cade Gruber  and Ty Bailey also found the back of the net for the Warriors.

Brady Cleveland recorded two assists for West.
