Wausau City Hall

WAUSAU — The City of Wausau’s Sustainability, Energy and Environment Committee will host a community presentation at 4 p.m. Dec. 19 in the second floor Board Room of Wausau City Hall, 407 Grant St. This presentation will be part of the committee’s monthly meeting and is open to the public.

The speaker will be Nick Hylla, executive director of the Midwest Renewable Energy Association based in Custer. Hylla holds a master’s degree in natural resource management and works with the U.S. Department of Energy to further the use of solar energy. Hylla will talk about programs for local governments and residents, such as the solar group buy program that Wausau has promoted for the past two years.

“The city currently has no solar installations, but the water utility is considering adding solar panels to the new drinking water treatment plant that is in the early design stages,” said Wausau City Council member Patrick Peckham, also a serving member of the committee, in a news release.
