No injuries were reported after a blaze broke out at an Auburndale cheese factory in Wood County, authorities confirmed.
The blaze, at Wiskerchen Cheese, was reported at about 5 p.m. Thursday. Flames were shooting from the roof of the factory, located at 5710 County Road H, Auburndale, when crews arrived.
Wood County Hwy. H was closed for about two hours as firefighters brought the blaze under control and ensured hot spots did not flare.
At least seven area departments were dispatched to the blaze, the cause of which remains under investigation. The company manufactures specialty cheeses such as blue, goat, and feta cheese, according to the organization’s website.
