Bette Radloff
Bette J Radloff, age 93, died on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Mount View Care Center in Wausau, WI.
Bette was born on February 12, 1926 in Wausau, WI to the late Oscar R Krueger and Edith (Curtis) Krueger. She graduated from Wausau High School. Bette married Wallace T Radloff on November 2, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a stay at home Mom who enjoyed cooking, golfing, ceramics, the casino, bowling and traveling. Bette was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
Bette is survived by a brother Harvey Krueger of Weston, WI: children Sandra (Patrick) Brady of The Villages, Florida, Bruce (Eva) Radloff of Mission Viejo, California and Jeff (Denise) Radloff of Merrill, Wisconsin: five grandchildren AnLyss (Eric) James, Elizabeth Schuette, Jennifer Radloff, Dylan (Lauren) Radloff and Marcus (Amy) Radloff: and three great grandchildren.
A gathering of friends and relatives, to celebrate the life of Bette Radloff, will be held and announced at a later date.
Cathy Mervane Bouffard
Cathy Mervane Whyte Bouffard passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 12, 2019. She was born in Wausau to Mervane (Hovden) and William J. Whyte on May 3, 1949. The family moved to Aurora, IL in 1957 where she grew up and graduated from West High School and then went on to get her B.S. degree in Mathematics from Northern Illinois.
Cathy loved working with numbers and after moving back to Wausau in 1984, she took a job with River Valley Bank (now Incredible Bank) as the Bookkeeping Manager. Her department was responsible for the integrity and accuracy of customer accounts, as well as many of the regulatory reports required by the agencies governing banking. She was instrumental in converting customer information to new software and was deeply involved in the purchase of several banks. Cathy was promoted to Assistant Vice President and after 30 years of service she retired in January of 2016.
Cathy was a perfectionist in her work, in her entertaining, in her appearance and in whatever she did. She was a loving and compassionate woman who delighted in sharing her masterful culinary skills with friends and family, entertaining with elegance and aplomb.
Next to cooking she loved the Northwoods. Her love began at an early age when she visited her grandparents on Plum Lake in Sayner. After retiring she was thrilled to be able to spend her summers at her beloved lakeside cottage. She also loved music and hardly missed a day playing the piano. Most of all Cathy loved her dog, Molly.
Cathy loved life and loved to laugh, and in spite of health problems, always stayed positive and hopeful. She is survived by her half brother, William J. Whyte (Nita), Minneapolis, MN; her half sister, Bonnie Free (Dexter), Barrington, IL; and her aunt and uncle, Mary Jane and Allen Hettinga, Lac du Flambeau, WI. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Brainard’s Eastside Chapel, 522 Adams Street, Wausau. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with services following. Joan Lind
Joan was born August 3, 1927 in Champagne, IL, daughter of the late Theron and Geraldine (Mellor) Rewerts. She attended high school in Danville, IL, graduating in 1945. On June 3rd, 1949 Joan married her husband of 59 years, Richard Lind in Danville, IL. He preceded her in death in 2008.
For many years Joan worked in the accounting department at the General Motors plant in Illinois. Joan was a vibrant, energetic and fun-loving spirit who enjoyed being active and spontaneous. An accomplished golfer, Joan earned the distinction of being one of the few to achieve not one, but four holes in one! She was also involved in curling and used her sewing talents to make jackets for her curling team. She loved playing bridge, mahjong, poker, and BINGO. Joan had a creative flair and found great pleasure in beautifying her surroundings through painting and wallpapering. Dogs were always an important and much-loved part of Joan’s life.
Joan is survived by her son Steve (Kristina) Lind, Whippany, N.J., daughter Lisa (Pat) Scobell, Wausau and her grandchildren, Ryan Lind, Stephanie (Tommy) Seramba and Mitchell Scobell.
Besides her husband and her parents, Joan was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Gene Rewerts and a son, Tim Lind.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2019 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth St., Wausau. Rev. Niveen Sarras will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marathon County Humane Society or the Salvation Army.

Virginia Wunsch
Virginia B. Wunsch, 97, died Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born June 24, 1922 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Alfred and Leona (Oppman) Alf. On May 21, 1949 she married Donald Wunsch at St. John Catholic Church, Marshfield. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2015.
Virginia graduated from Kohler High School and worked for Kohler Co. followed by Weinbrenner Shoe Company. She retired from General Distributing, Wausau. In 1950 she and Donald moved to Wausau. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and active in her parish as a communion distributer and member of the PCCW. Virginia enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles and going on tours. She was an avid Brewers fan.
Survivors include her children, Richard Wunsch, Wausau, Dennis (Jeanne) Wunsch, Wausau, Timothy (Kathy) Wunsch, Weston and Cheryl (Jerry) Duberstein, Mosinee; grandchildren, Eric Wunsch, Oklahoma, Brian (Deanna) Wunsch, Neenah, Aaron (Kristie) Wunsch, Wausau, Kaitlyn (Casey) Krohn, Pittsville, Hannah Wunsch, Wausau and Mollie (Cody) Augustine, Wausau; great-grandchildren, Taylen, Easton and Kassidie Augustine, Imogene and Truman Wunsch, Gavin Wunsch, Ellie and Jayden Krohn; step great-grandchildren, Jacob and Cailyn Will; sister, Kathleen Pribnow, Marshfield; sister-in-law, Eve Alf, Florida, many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Alfred and Marshall Alf and sisters, Carita Kelleher and Barbara Flom.

Doris Case
Doris M. Case, 91, left this world peacefully and surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, December 23, 2019 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
She was born Doris Marie Beese on Dec. 4, 1928 in Wausau, WI, to Cecil and Evelyn (Andrejeski) Beese at the beginning of the Great Depression. Her family didn’t have much money in the best of times and the Depression did not make life any easier. Doris graduated from Wausau High School in 1947; while in high school she worked several hours each night in a factory after the school day ended.
Doris married Joseph Case on Nov. 4, 1950 at Holy Name Catholic Church and they moved to Brokaw where Joe had grown up. Following the birth of her first child, Doris left her job at Employers Insurance and became a homemaker extraordinaire. Whether she was baking, cooking, sewing, knitting, or creating crafts, she always had something going on. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, involved in Brokaw Village affairs, and served as a librarian at the Brokaw Library. She could always be counted on to help a neighbor or a friend.
Beginning their marriage with almost nothing, Doris and Joe made a life together that lasted 69 years and brought them two children. Through hard work they eventually enjoyed a comfortable lifestyle. After Joe’s retirement they moved to their lake home on Lake Nokomis near Tomahawk where they spent 28 wonderful years before moving to Eau Claire last year to be near their daughter. It was a retirement filled with travel, new friends, and an ever-growing family as their children married. Her special joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her husband, Joseph, and her children, Patricia (Jeffrey) Henry of Eau Claire and John (Deborah) of Wausau. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Megan (Tom) Dahl and Erin (Tim) Lynnes, and Rebecca, Jessica, and Erica Case, and great-grandchildren Claire and Anna Dahl, and Mallory and Grace Lynnes.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Richard Beese and his wife, Diane.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, Dec. 30, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection in Wausau with Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services. Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials be directed to the Raptor Education Group in Antigo or Feed My People Food Bank in Eau Claire.

Gerald “Jerry” Pagel
Gerald “Jerry” D. Pagel, 84, entered into eternal life with his family by his side on Tuesday, December 24, 2019.
He was born July 31, 1935 in the town of Easton, son of the late Raymond and Goldie (Boettcher) Pagel. On June 9, 1956, he was united in marriage to Joyce Mathwich at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hamburg. She survives.
Jerry was a member of the National Guard. He worked for Milwaukee Cheese and then for Thompson, Clark & Garrettson in Brookfield. Following retirement, he enjoyed driving shuttle for the Ballweg Toyota Car Dealership in Wausau. Jerry was a lifelong member of First English Lutheran Church, Wausau, where he taught Sunday school and was the head usher. Among his favorite pastimes, he loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals and singing performances.
Survivors include, his wife, Joyce; his children, Clark and Donnell Pagel, Stevens Point, Sue Pagel, Sun Prairie and Lori and Dan Brandt, Wausau; his special family, Bill Ohrmundt, John (Annie) Ohrmundt and Scott (Cheryl) Ohrmundt; his grandchildren, Jessica (Chris Platt) Pagel and her children, Addison and Boden, Joshua Pagel and his children, Brooklyn and Brynley, Jason Brandt, Olivia Brandt (Adam Grandlic), Heather (Mike) Gallenburg and their children, Elise and Ray, Brec (Rachel) Ohrmundt and their children, Aiden and Levi, Nikki (Pete) Knutson and their children, Courtney, Tanner and Carter and Kendra (Billy) Drews and her children, Bryce, Madison and Phoebe; two sisters, Patsy Bauman, Oshkosh and Linda (Ralph) Nass, Wausau; brother-in-law, Vernie (Mae) Mathwich; and many nieces and nephew who were taught “Never fear, Uncle Jerry is here”.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Todd Pagel.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at First English Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Erik Olson will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the church. Private burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Stettin.

Thomas “Tom” Goldsworthy
Thomas “Tom” L. Goldsworthy, 83, Wausau, died Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born May 13, 1936, in Negaunee, MI, son of the late Clarence and Lila (Piironen) Goldsworthy. On March 26, 1960, he married Jane Kangas at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ironwood, MI. She survives.
Tom was a veteran of the United States Army. In 1968, he began working for Marathon Electric Corp. in Wausau as an electrical engineer where he worked until his retirement in 1999. Among his favorite pastimes, he loved fishing, hunting and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include, his wife, Jane, Wausau; two children, Paul (Terri) Goldsworthy, Athens and Joan (David) Robarge, Chippewa Falls; eight grandchildren, Randi (Aaron) Felch, Shelby (Joseph) Taylor, Dana (David) Prazuch, Nina Goldsworthy, Janelle (Aleks) Ilyusheva, Julia Robarge, Thomas Robarge and Tyler Robarge; five great-grandchildren, Madalyn, William, Isabelle, Keavi and Harper; one brother, Allen (Barb) Goldsworthy, Arizona; and one sister, Jean Lindberg, Kewaunee.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Joe Shelton will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Violet Duberstein
Violet Marie Duberstein passed away in the early morning hours on December 24th 2019 at Copperleaf Assisted Living in Marathon, WI. Violet was born on July 17th, 1931 to Joseph and Effie (Childs) Lahr. Violet was united in marriage to the late Emil Duberstein on February 27th 1954.
Violet was a very quiet loving person. She treated every person with caring and respect, never judging or saying a bad word about anyone. Violet lovingly took care of her 7 children. In her younger years her children and her garden kept her very busy. As their children became more independent Emil and Violet bought a cabin on Solberg Lake near Phillips WI. Summers were filled with family and fun times at the lake. After Emil passed away the cabin was sold to her oldest child Leonard to be enjoyed by his family. Violet enjoyed putting puzzles together, watching the birds at her feeders, walking on her treadmill every day and shopping each week with her daughters.
Christmas was a special time of year. Each year the family would join together and Violet would celebrate with her growing family at the Cassel town hall. This year was going to be different with each of her children enjoying Christmas with their own families and making their own traditions. But Violet had different plans for them. One last time she ensured her children would be spending Christmas Eve together. We gathered one last time with mom to say our goodbyes and remembering our childhood years at a private viewing at Peterson Kraemer Funeral Home in Edgar, WI.
Survivors include her seven children: Leonard (Lorie) Duberstein and his children Randy(Stephanie) Duberstein, Barbara Fry (Paul Dolan), and Bruce(Mandy Jaggers) and step children Will Schmidt and Amanda (Cory) Skilling. Rose Zellner and her children Anthony Campolo and Jason Campolo. Dennis (Patricia) Duberstein and their children Kimberly Duberstein, Sarah Duberstein and Wesley Duberstein. James Duberstein and his children Bill Huebsch, Bryan Huebsch, and Benjamin (Stacey) Duberstein. Ellen (Todd) Brinkman and their children Steven (Jessica) Brinkman, Bobbie Jo (William) Schara, and Jacob (Emily) Brinkman. Dale (Cassandra) Duberstein and their children Emily Duberstein, David Duberstein and stepdaughter Sarah Burnett. Robert Duberstein and his children Joseph(Isabel) Duberstein, Tara (Zack) Furger, and Kristin Duberstein. 18 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, and 5 step great-great grand children. Violet is also survived by her siblings Eleanor(Ed) Farrell, Patricia Goss, and Lawrence Lahr, and Julia (Steve) Morey.
Violet was proceeded in death by her parents, Joseph and Effie Lahr, her husband Emil, siblings Joyce Guillaume, Margaret Hallas, and Vernon Lahr

Richard Powell
Richard Powell, 76, of the town of Rib Mountain, went to be with his Lord on Christmas Eve surrounded by his family.
He was born March 15, 1943 in Williston, North Dakota. He grew up in Montana and loved being outdoors. After moving to Wisconsin, Richard attended UW Eau Claire and UW Stevens Point graduating with a Master’s Degree in Education. On August 20, 1966, Richard married Margaret Ann Vold at Bethesda Lutheran Church, Eau Claire. Richard taught in Berlin Elementary, Maine Elementary and retired as a 6th grade Math instructor at John Muir Middle School. Before teaching, Richard worked in home construction. He was gifted and talented in building, remodeling, designing and troubleshooting. His favorite past times included deer hunting, fishing and working with his brother, Ron and friend Nate at “The Farm” near Perkinstown. Richard loved a good joke, had a sharp wit and loved to tease everyone. Most important was his belief in his children always encouraging them to do their best in everything they did. He and Margaret instilled those same values as Foster Parents too.
Survivors include his wife Margaret of Rib Mountain, daughter, Stephanie (Perry) de Jong of Rib Mountain, two sons, Jason (Anne) of Bend, OR, Matthew (Jennifer) of Rochester, MN, eight grandchildren, Nicholas (Danielle), Christian, Benjamin (fiancé-Kailey), Olivia, Josie, Wesley, Jack and Kate, two brothers, C. James (Claire) Powell of TN, Ronald of Minneapolis, MN and one sister, Betty Jo (Phil) Berge of Ill. He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene.

Brian Bentz
Brian R. Bentz, 59, of Wausau, passed away on December 22, 2019.
He was born in Wausau on August 19, 1960 to the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Rhodes) Bentz.
Brian had a great sense of humor, and in his early years, he enjoyed working on cars. He liked doing body work or getting them ready for the demolition derby at Marathon Park. When Brian was at his best, he was a good father, and loved his children dearly.
He is survived by his sons, Dustin (Michelle) of Weston, Ryan (Alyssa) of Wausau and Logan of Weston; 5 grandchildren, Hailey, Teanna, Emma, Amara and Braxton; with Ryan and Alyssa expecting grand baby number 6. He is further survived by his sister, Pam (Bill) Bloom of Wausau; and Kathie Reamer of Weston, mother to Ryan and Logan.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Betty.

Vladislov “Jim” Legner (96) was born on May 17, 1923 to Stephanie (Zahonek) and Josef Legner in Knowlton, Wisconsin. He grew up in the Knowlton area and attended Cole School. Upon graduation he farmed. He eventually moved to Chicago, Il and worked as an inspector at a Sunbeam Factory.
When WWII broke out he was drafted into the Army and took basic training at Fort Sheridan, Il. He fought with the 8th Armored Division (European Theatre), 405th Arm’d Field Artillery Battalion as a Private First Class. The battles he fought in were The Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland and Central Europe. In the Battle of the Bulge he helped liberate a future brother-in-law (his future wife’s brother – Stanley Majkrzak). He also participated in liberating a sub camp of the notorious Buchenwald Concentration Camp (where Anne Frank died) and had horrendous stories to tell about being in several concentration camps just hours after the Nazis had left.
His main job in the army was to drive water trucks (all the time being at the front lines). He related how he had 3 trucks blown up from underneath him and one go off the side of a mountain – yet he was not hurt in any of them. As Jim said “Lucky water doesn’t explode!” He never slept in a building except for a barn for almost the 3 years he was in Europe. The Battle of the Bulge occurred during one of the most severe winters Europe has ever experienced. Jim related how he and his fellow soldiers once slept with the farm animals to stay warm. He also related how he got used to being shot at. Jim had a reputation for giving away his meals to starving/hungry civilians he encountered.
When the end of WWII occurred, he was asked to be an interpreter & bus driver, as he could speak Czech, Polish, German and some Russian. He spent almost one additional year in service when the rest of his unit came home. His main task as an interpreter was to return POWs, concentration camp victims and displaced persons back to their homeland. He visited 9 European Countries doing this, but it was hardly a European vacation. He took many Russian POWs back to the Russian border, but always left them off a few miles from it, as he knew that returning Russian POWs could be shot. He never knew where they went. When General Patton visited Czechoslovakia, Jim acted as his interpreter for several months. General Patton had a reputation for being harsh, but Jim said he was always treated respectfully by him.
Upon returning to the Knowlton area he met his future wife Martha Majkrzak at an Ashley Ballroom Dance in Ashley, WI. They were married on Oct 9, 1948 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Knowlton and shared 68 years of marriage together. Jim had his own ceramic tile and house construction business. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, concertina playing, bowling and crafts. Jim will be remembered as a fun loving, peaceful and generous man who was always ready to help a friend, neighbor or relative.
He has three children, Darlene (John) Schulta- Boulder Junction, WI, James (Susan) Legner-Rib Mountain, WI and Marlene (Mike) Seeley – Ringle, WI. He has two surviving sisters-in-law Mary Majkrzak, Kiel,4rf`HH WI and Therese Legner, Mosinee WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents Stephanie and Josef Legner (Knowlton, WI) and his five brothers; Joseph Jr., Louis, Frank & Anton (all of Mosinee WI) and Rudy (Las Vegas, NV).
He has 5 Grandchildren; Tim (Paola) Seeley, Steve (Jennie) Seeley both of Chicago, Brad (Caitlin) Seeley, Weston, Kate Legner (Anchorage, AK) and Mara Legner (Chicago) Il and 3 Great-Grandchildren Anorah & Owen Seeley(Weston) and Valentina Seeley (Chicago, Il).

Judith (Judie) Anne Erickson, 80, formerly of Wittenberg died Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at Wausau Hospital. She was born June 9, 1939 in New London, Wisconsin to the late Floyd and Edith (Johnson) Longrie. She was in a devoted relationship with Edwin Pranke for the last 20+ years.Judie was a prolific crocheter. She crocheted hundreds of cancer hats and newborn baby caps for several area hospitals. She also spent hours making beautiful afghans and tied dozens of fleece blankets. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been blessed with the love she placed in each of her creations.
Though she held several jobs throughout her life, she really shined when she was crafting, sewing, cooking and creating. Most often these creations were for the benefit of others. Judie was an avid Packer fan as is evident by looking at her house and car. She enjoyed social outings where she could catch up on the local news, going out for fish and especially loved spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include her partner Edwin Pranke, one brother: David (Audree) Longrie of Texas; 4 daughters: Tammie Jo Berg (Brian Derus) of Iola, Kristi Roth of Hatley, Wendy (Matt) Waller, Becky Hale (fiancé Rupert Welch) of Wittenberg; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Edith, and one great grandchild Corey Jensen.
A celebration of life will be held at Maple Hills Golf Course, N6621 Cardinal Ln, Wittenberg, on Sunday, December 29th, from 3:30pm-6:00pm, with a short service at 5:30pm.

David J. Cram 77, Mosinee, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2019 at his home with this wife and children by his side. He was born one of seven children to David and Genevieve (Cionek) Cram on September 27, 1942 in Jackson; MI. Dave entered into the United States Army in 1962 and served stateside and in Germany as an Equipment Operator until contracting tuberculosis and needing surgery and lengthy hospitalization in 1964. He also worked as a Police officer, general laborer, Nursing Assistant, Physical Therapy Assistant, and an Emergency Services Crisis Worker at NCHC.He married the love of his life Rhonda (Zoern) in 1968 in Antigo, WI. Together they celebrated 51 years together.
Dave had a love for Johnny Cash and what messages came though his songs. Dave and Rhonda moved to Mosinee from Antigo in 1980 and has been a member of Our Saviors Catholic Church for about 6 years.
He is survived by his wife Rhonda, siblings, Paul and Vicky, brothers-in-law Joe and Wally Zoern and sisters-in-law, Sharon and Cheryl. Dave was a proud parent of Michele (Bob Watry) Delange and Jason (Kay) cram, grandpa to three grandsons, Jason and Andrew Delange and Isaac Cram.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home 900 Old Highway 51, Mosinee. Visitation will be from 12:30 until time of service at 1:30. Fr. Marion Talaga will be officiating. Military honors will follow out front after the service.
