MADISON – The Department of Workforce Development recently launched a new employer recognition initiative highlighting employers who go above and beyond to support veterans and their families, the Vets Ready Employer Initiative.

“Wisconsin employers know the value of hiring veterans,” said DWD Secretary-designee Caleb Frostman in a news release. “Vets Ready will highlight those employers who provide additional support, resources and outreach as part of their organization’s mission. These employers deserve recognition for their support of those who serve.”

DWD is now accepting applications for employers to apply and be deemed “Vets Ready.” Visit WiscJobsforVets.com for application details. The deadline to submit is May 31.

Employer applicants will be rated on various criteria, including the support system within their workplace for veterans, their hiring and retaining of veteran employees and connections to veterans and veteran organizations in their community. Businesses are separated into three categories – small, medium, large – and either receive a gold or silver certification. It is free and open to all Wisconsin employers.

Winners will be announced around Veterans Day 2020 and will benefit from promotion by DWD and partner agencies as a Vets Ready Employer, including being listed on WiscJobsforVets.com, social media posts on all DWD’s social media channels throughout the year, indicated as a Vets Ready Employer on JobCenterofWisconsin.com and more.

Instructions and criteria can be found on WiscJobsforVets.com.
