STEVENS POINT – The D.C. Everest boys basketball team will no longer have to deal with the prospects of an unbeaten run through the Wisconsin /valley Conference.
Despite missing arguably its best player – Jon Vollendorf – SPASH manged to knock the Evergreens from the unbeaten ranks 71-63 Friday night behind a game-high 24 points from Nathan Streveler.
The Panthers (5-5, 2-1 WVC), who also received 17 points from James Jacobs and 12 for Gavin Hyer, used a 17-0 spurt in the second half to take control.
DCE (6-1)closed within four points in the closing minutes but was unable to get over the hump despite a balanced attack that featured five players in double figures.
Alec Stuedemann paced the Evergreens with 16 points. Bryan Halambeck helped out with 13 points and Colton Hall added 11. Cade Sivertson and Keaton Edwards had 10 points apiece.

Marshfield 64 Wausau East 42
MARSHFIELD – Gabe Krueger finished with 24 points to surpass the 1,000-point career milestone but the Lumberjacks proved no match for the Tigers in Wisconsin Valley Conference action.
Anthony Posteluk topped all scorers with 26 for Marshfield.
GIRLS HOCKEY
Central Wisconsin 10, Brookfield 1
MOSINEE – Josie Opela and Coena Holstein each tallied their first varsity goals in the second period and the second-ranked Storm had no trouble dispatching Brookfield at the Mosinee Rec Center.
Central Wisconsin (12-2-2) came out on fire and built a commanding 7-1 lead after the opening period. Five different players found the back of the net for the opening five goals for the Storm.

SPASH 78, D.C. Everest 60
WESTON – The Evergreens were unable to keep pace with the high-scoring Panthers in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup.
SPASH owns a share of the top spot with Wausau West at 4-0 in the WVC, while the Evergreens dropped to 1-3 in conference play.
