Squad cars from multiple area departments have converged near a home on Wausau’s west side Thursday.

Police and rescue crews responded en masse just after 4:30 p.m. to the area of 12th Avenue and Arctic Lane, just north of Randolph Street, for a report of a person with a gunshot wound.

Readers tell Wausau Pilot and Review they observed as many as a dozen squad cars in the area from Wausau, Marathon County, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Officials are urging the public to stay away from what they describe as an active scene.

This is a developing story that will be updated.
