WAUSAU — The Women’s Community and Wausau Police Department will host a community human trafficking awareness event at Northcentral Technical College from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 21 in the conference room in the Center for Health Sciences building, room 1004A.

There will be a panel of experts from the community present to answer questions and concerns about human trafficking. Panel members will include Officer Sarah D’Acquisto from the Wausau Police Department, Brenda Bayer from The Women’s Community, a social worker from Marathon County Social Services, a sexual assault nurse examiner from St. Clare’s Hospital, an ADA from the Marathon County District Attorney’s Office and a forensic interviewer from the Children’s Advocacy Center.

Human trafficking is a pervasive crime, occurring in our homes and neighborhoods, its signs and symptoms often unrecognized.

The event is free and anyone can register at https://www.ntc.edu/calendar/2020/01/21/human-trafficking-community-awareness-event.
