Crews responded to an early morning fire in Wisconsin Rapids that left one resident injured.

The blaze was reported at about 4:40 a.m. at a home in the 800 block of Gardner Street. A 911 caller reported hearing a large “pop” before seeing a man outside the home who was shouting for help.

When crews arrived they saw heavy smoke and flames pouring from the residence. The man outside the home suffered significant burns and was transported to a hospital for treatment, according to scanner reports. No residents were trapped inside.

The severity of the man’s injuries has not been specified.

Crews spent more than two hours battling the blaze. There’s no word yet on what started the fire.
