WAUSAU– It was a scoring bonanza for Wausau West as they drilled Merrill/East United 12-1 in boys hockey action on Thursday night.
West took control right off the bat, scoring four goals in the first period alone.
Lucas Langlois, Jacob Cebula, Ty Bailey and Cole Hannes each scored in the first for West. The Warriors held a 19-1 edge in shots in the first period.
The Warriors followed that up with five goals in the second period.
Jacob Cebula, Lucas Langlois, Thomas Gerum, Brady Cleveland and Cade Gruber led the second half scoring parade.
Merrill/East’s lone goal came in the third period from Jack Piskula.

Medford 52, DCE 45
WESTON– Everest got 16 points from Hanna Stuedemann and 11 points from Kiara Hammond, but were unable to pull away as Medford hit several three point shots down the stretch to pick up the win in non-conference girls basketball action.
Everest falls to 2-14 overall this season and will resume play against Wausau East on January 28.
D.C. Everest 92, Wausau East 76
WAUSAU– D.C. Everest edged Wausau East in Wisconsin Valley Conference swimming action 92-76.
The Everest boys got a first place finish in the 200 medley relay and Alexander Wayda notched a first place finish in the 200 freestyle.
Meanwhile, Vincent Schmitt won the 50 freestyle and took first place in the 100 freestyle as well.
Everest is now 6-2 in the conference, while East checks in at 2-5.
