One person is dead and one person is injured after a blaze broke out at a Merrill home over the weekend, authorities said.
Crews responded at about 10 a.m. Saturday to the home in the 1500 block of River Street.
A 37-year-old man was trapped inside the home and died, officials said. A woman who was inside the home when the blaze began was rescued from the building and was taken by ambulance to Ascension Good Samaritan Hospital in Merrill.
She was later transported to the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics Burn Center in Madison. Her age and condition have not been specified.
The couple’s pet is currently unaccounted for.
No names have been released and the cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.
